Jammu & Kashmir People's Democratic Party (JKPDP)

Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party is a political party in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, founded in 1999 by Mufti Mohammed Syed, former Union Home Minister and took the control of the J&K state in October 2002 assembly elections.  It is a member of the ruling United Progressive Alliance & has a 1 member each in Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha.

At present, People’s Democratic Party is led by Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, daughter of Mufti Mohammed Syed, who is now party’s patron and was leading the PDP-Congress coalition government in October 2002 until November 2005.

In 2009 General Elections, JKPDP contested 6 seats and failed to win any of them.
