INDIA GENERAL ELECTIONS 2009

Key Constituency : Pilibhit

Pilibhit is one of the important constituencies of Uttar Pradesh state due to the reason that BJP leader and a young leader, Varun Gandhi, son of late Sanjay Gandhi and senior BJP leader Maneka Gandhi and the grandson of late Smt. Indira Gandhi contested from here. He was contesting for the first time for the Lok Sabha elections and his main rival was V.M. Singh of Congress.  In total there were 16 candidates in the fray.

Varun Gandhi won the election comfortably with a huge victory margin of 2,81,501 votes.
