Key Constituency : Allahabad

Allahabad is one of the important constituencies of Uttar Pradesh state as Rewati Raman Singh, a senior leader of Samajwadi Party contested from here. Last time (General Election 2004) he defeated Murali Manohar Joshi of BJP. In 2009 elections, in a quadrangular contest Rewati Raman Singh was up-against Ashok Bajpei of BSP, Yogesh Shukla (BJP), Shyam Krishan Pandey of Congress. In total there were 30 candidates in the fray.

Rewati Raman Singh won the 2009 elections and retained the seat.
