INDIA GENERAL ELECTIONS 2009 Exit Polls 13th May 2009, Various media channels and companies have conducted exit-poll surveys to figure out the emerging trends for the make up of the 15th Lok Sabha. Most of the survey carried out at each phase of elections and results of all the phases combined togeather are relased today. Results of exit polls suggest no clear winner this time with UPA having a marginal edge over NDA. Trends also suggest a hung parliament and an important role of king makers in the post poll maths. The surveys shown by electronic channels after the end of fifth phase of polling today placed the BJP-led NDA not very far behind the UPA and the Third Front likely to get little over 100 seats. Star News channel gave Congress led UPA 199 seats against 196 of BJP led NDA followed by 100 seats to Third Front and the Fourth Front getting 36 seats. India TV channel projected UPA to get anywhere between 195 to 227 if 32 seats of RJD, LJP and SP are added. The channel gave NDA 189 and the Third Front 113. Others are projected to get 14 seats Headlines Today channel gave Congress and its allies 191 seats against 180 to BJP and its allies. The Left parties, which played a crucial role in the outgoing Lok Sabha with 60 seats, has been projected to get 38 while. NDTV announced its Exit poll results on 14th May 2009. It predicts a relatively better performance for UPA than other channels. It predicts 216 seats for UPA and 177 for the NDA, whereas the Third Front is projected to get 105 seats. Fourth front and others to get 45 seats. The exit polls were proved wrong in 2004 Lok Sabha polls with most of them projecting BJP-led NDA as the winner which did not turn out to be correct. In 2004 elections the Congress and its pre-poll allies got 216 seats against a projection ranging from 170 to 205 seats and the BJP-led NDA had secured 187 seats against the projections of over 240.
